Dana Kelley, viola

Violist Dana Kelley, a top prizewinner in the Sphinx Music Competition and the Irving M. Klein International String Competition, is a 2014-2016 fellow in The Academy – a program of Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and The Weill Music Institute.

She received her Bachelor’s of Music from the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University, studying violin with Cornelia Heard and viola with Kathryn Plummer. While at Blair, Dana served as concertmaster of the Vanderbilt University Orchestra and was a winner of the University concerto competition. Dana has attended festivals such as Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute, the Schiermonnikoog International Chamber Music Festival, Kneisel Hall, Aspen Music Festival as a fellowship student, and the New York String Orchestra Seminar.

Ms. Kelley has performed as principal of the Orchestra of Indian Hill, and as a member of the Nashville Symphony, the New World Symphony, A Far Cry Chamber Orchestra, the Boston Philharmonic, and the Discovery Ensemble. In 2014, Dana completed her Master’s of Music degree at the New England Conservatory as a student of Kim Kashkashian. Dana plays on a José Massaguer viola, on loan from Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute.
