Bringing Civic Engagement to the Classroom!
Hunger is one of the most widespread challenges families face today, and one of the most crippling: Food insecurity has been shown to drastically affect performance in both the classroom and the workplace. Furthermore, it affects children’s social and emotional development.
On October 10, 2013 Music for Food launched its first educational outreach initiative at St. Paul’s Choir School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The program aims to teach music students K-12 about the integration of music and civic engagement by encouraging them to organize their own benefit concert for a local food pantry. The St. Paul’s Choir School presented its inaugural educational outreach concert on November 23, 2013.
