Sean Lair, Tenor
Sean Lair has been praised for his “significant vocal ability,” and as “deeply expressive—a considerable talent” (The Boston Musical Intelligencer.) He has most recently been seen in Boston Midsummer Opera’s production of Martha, Boston Modern Orchestra Project in their concert performance of Four Saints in Three Acts, Juventas New Music Ensemble singing Prince Yelisey in the world premiere performance of The Magic Mirror, with Intermezzo in their production of Britten’s The Prodigal Son, and performing the role of Evangelist in Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with the Freisinger Chamber Orchestra. He has in recent past sung the roles of Dance Master in Ariadne auf Naxos, First Armed Man in The Magic Flute, a Tragedian in the world premiere of Herschel Garfein’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, and Tamino in an outreach production of The Magic Flute.
Equally at home on the concert stage, Sean has performed Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, Finzi’s A Farewell to Arms—as winner of the New England Conservatory Concerto Competition, and Saint-Saëns Oratorio de Noël with the NEC Chamber and Symphony Orchestras in Jordan Hall, and has twice sung Messiah with the Boston Masterworks Chorale in Lexington, MA. He sings regularly at the Church of the Advent in Beacon Hill.
